Qin Hailang (秦海浪)

Directed by Prof. Yang

I graduated from the Biological science department of Anhui Normal University. My hometown is Chuzhou, a very beautiful city, which is famous for Ouyangxiu’s Zuiwenting. Now my major is soil ecological. I have been to XTBG for a month. XTBG is a scientific research institute and is powerful in scientific research. The equipment is also advanced. And the tutors are all very excellent .If you want to do something in botany and ecology, XTBG will give you a stage to show yourselves. If you like to be close to nature and want to understand the relationship between the plant and animal, you can join in Eepai. Eepai is very warm 、friendly and full of activity . You will be satisfied to her. But XTBG is located to Luosuo river at a frontier town of Menglun. There is almost no entertainment. Email: qhlang_love@126.com  Q Q : 452744839

I had graduated from Northwest Agriculture And Forestry University in Yangling, Shanxi province, in 2010 and my major was bioengineering there. After four years since I started to study in the university I have got facinated with biology, and I wanted to know more mysterious event happening in nature. Now my major is soil ecology, soil is one of the most important limited resources for us, so researchs on understanding it and how to protect it should be significant. My research foucs on the relationship between the exotic earthworm species(pontoscolex corethrurus) and native earthworm species and their habitats in Xishuangbanna in present.

HH-216x300Hello! My name is Curis He, a master student with the major of Environmental Education (EE). Born in Luoyang, an ancient city in the central part of China, I always dreamed of visiting Xishuangbanna. Fortunately being a student in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden(XTBG) makes my dream come true. The unique culture broadens my horizon. XTBG provides me opportunities to embrace nature and to communicate with visitors. However while the mysterious tropical scene in Xishuangbanna attracts visitors and researchers all over the world, the destruction of tropical forest takes place right at the same time. Education is necessary to solve the problem basically. Therefore I have been concentrating on the EE to public in botanical gardens and operated some investigation. Last year I carried out a survey about urban citizens’ awareness of tropical forest in Fairylake Botanical Garden. And I just finish a four-month investigation on the educational function of Science Popularization Hall in 6 botanical gardens in China. After two-year study, I have obtained a lot and feel that there is more to learn if I intend to do some contribution to EE. With the motto “Make each day count”, I hope the everyday progress will lead me to my present dream—Peace between man and nature. If you’re interested in my research, please contact me at hehehjjy@163.com.

FLN-181x300I was born in Wuhan, a economic city of east-central China lying by the Yangtse River.. It is the industrial, commercial, and transportation center of central China and the capital of Hubei province.. The ecology environment of Wuhan was not so good as a result of a long time industrial development. So I hope I can do something for environment deterioration. After four years of undergraduate study in Southwest Forestry University, I passed into XTBG.. My research in XTBG is soil ecology. Now my study is about invasive earthworms. I want to know the mechanisms of earthworm invasiveness, and how can we predict which species will be invasive, which geographic areas are vulnerable, and what the consequences of earthworm invasions will be. I hope my study will make some contribution to the theory of invasiveness.

I was trained for gardening at the Qingdao agricultural university during 2003 to 2007. I like nature since in my childhood, the plant, flower, cute animal and so on. I look forward to xishuangbanna, a place as beautiful as the fairyland when I saw a film named Beautiful Xishuangbanna. In 2007 I entered XTBG to begin my postgraduate Studies. my reaserch on “The application of DNA barcoding in the Alpinioideae identification”.I hope my study will make some help to the development of barcode.

LGY-189x300I grew up in Dali Bai autonomous Prefecture, Yunan provice. Dali is a beautiful place where is famous for its unique natural scenic and culture. In 2004, I entered the Yunnan Universtiy to learn the ecology. After four yeas studies, I was deeply fall in with nature, and tried to understand what the human-nature relationship is. In 2008, I enter ed XTBG to learn environment education, one filed try to link conservation with education together. I am interested in public education, ecology and environment. I write a blog about the  life stories, plant-animal enjoyment, environment problems and how to be a good learner for the younger students. If you would like exchange your ideas with me, you can visit my blog (http://hi.baidu.com/ecoliugy ) or send me email (Liuguangyu134@gmail.com ).  Finally, I will start my research on “How much knowledge people should have about nature, or how to link human with nature, in order to take action in biodiversity conservation”.

CX-300x181I am typical city girl grown up surrounded by concrete buildings, but I love nature. I saw many mistakes human made around my hometown, they think human is god, and all the other living things service us. But the turth is we share the precious planet together, and we are equal, we cannot survive without the others. The earth is a planet of plenty, but not withour its limits. So I want to do some thing which I can do to make it up. Now I am studying in this marvelous garden, my subject is about food choice of frugivorous avian in tropical rainforest. We want to see wether the mutual relationship between fruit tree and fruit bird have some regulation and meanings connected to evolutionary standard.

I graduated from Beijing Forestry University, where I majored in turfgrass management. Comparing with peers who lived in rural area, I did not have enough chance to connect with nature in my growth as those who were born and grew up in urban area. In spite of only a few exposure to nature, I still care about environmental issues and try to become a responsible citizen and even an environmentalist. Such my own personal experience stimulate my curiosity to the program-Environmental Education. Due to industrialization and urbanization, today’s children are increasingly disconnected from the natural world, but meanwhile we now live in a society where the treats of climate change and species extinction are predicted to get worse than before. It calls for actions and changes to reverse the urgent situation and need human beings to guard our common home. So I feel so lucky that I can come to XTBG,  join in this program and do certain research in the future two years.

I studied biology at YunnanUniversity. For master’s degree in Ecology, I studied the differences and similarities of plant – herbivore – predator (ants) systems of two Passiflora plants, a native and an introduced one, at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG). Now I still stay at XTBG for my PhD study, also about plant extrafloral nectar (EFN). I am interested in ant plant interaction and plant defence, my PhD study focus on how the EFN secretion be affected by plant photosynthesis, herbivory and other factors.

Since I become a graduate student of the Graduate University of Chinese Academic Sciences, I feel that I go into another world. Gradually, I learn how to look at the world with another pair of eyes, more objective and more detailed. All of things are more or less correlated. Searching these correlations we are actually untangling the secrets of the ecology and biology. With the help of Professors and classmates and friends, “The Priming” gets into my life. This can happen in life and also in science. I am looking at its role in forest soils closely. What’s the Priming Effect? It means the increase in soil organic matter decomposition rate after input fresh organic matter to soil. It’s also supposed to result from a global increase in microbial activity due to the higher availability of energy released from the decomposition of fresh organic matter. Minor changes can prime a maximum effect. ‘Don’t look down upon us, we can change the world’.

I like flowering plants, it is such a miracle of nature that the flowers could skillfully evade inbreeding and the plants coevolve with animals. I also interested in some fantastic species, such as colorful mushrooms, mosses and insects. XTBG is a place full of stories, I’m very glad to join in this big family and expect to write my own story in this wonderful garden!
